Storm headed to Atlanta for playoffs; Bird and Stewart earn Disher & Swisher honors on the last day

Sep 19, 2016

On the last day of the regular season, the only thing left to be determined was playoff seedings.

With the Phoenix Mercury winning in the afternoon, the Seattle Storm needed to defeat the Chicago Sky to earn the number seven seed and a trip to Atlanta.

Despite an injured Elena Delle Donne and resting Cappie Pondexter and Courtney Vandersloot, Chicago gave its all, but the Storm had too much offense, winning 88-75.

Sue Bird was, well, Sue Bird, scoring 14 points, but dishing out five assists to be the Disher of the Night.

Breanna Stewart was, well Breanna Stewart, scoring a game high 18 points while pulling down 11 rebounds. Stewart finished the season in third place all-time for rookie scoring, trailing only Seimone Augustus and Cappie Pondexter.

Congratulations to the Storm, and best of luck in the playoffs!
