The Atlanta Dream continued their surprising start yesterday, defeating the Indiana Fever 85-76. Leading by one going into the fourth quarter, Atlanta outscored Indiana by eight to pull away for the win.
Sitting at 5-1, and comfortably ahead of the rest of the East this early, Atlanta owes a lot of their success to Tiffany Hayes, who had upped her game to higher levels this year.
Already a Swisher of the Night for the Dream's overtime win over the New York Liberty, Hayes dished out four assists yesterday, but three of them were crucial, fourth quarter dimes.
With Atlanta up 64-63, Hayes found Sancho Lyttle for an open three-pointer and a big four point lead with around six minutes left.
After former Dream guard Erika Wheeler cut the lead back to three with four minutes left, Hayes found Laychia Clarendon for three and a six-point lead.
Finally, with the lead at five and 2:30 left, she hit Lyttle again, for a seven point lead. Indiana never got closer than that.
The Dream will take their four game winning streak to Connecticut next and will look to extend their success.
Congratulations Tiffany Hayes, now a Disher AND Swisher winner this season!
